Lots of bars to spend new years eve in, cafes and restaurants that weren't too over priced. It was only a 5-10minute walk down the slope to the gondola station (but a bit of a hike back up wearing ski boots and carrying skis after a long day skiing).

We also had free use of a ski locker downstairs, saving us the 60E for a locker down by the gondola station. There was a very effective radiator in the room too, which was good for drying all the gear. I was hoping for a bath at the end of the day, but the shower was very warm and powerful, despite being 0.5mx0.5m. There was a built in wardrobe and absolutely no room for mess - about 2 foot at the end of the bed. We had two single beds that were different heights so not ideal for turning into a double. The only downside of the chalet was the rooms. There was a large lounge downstairs, but it wasn't used that often. This was great for me, as my partner was in ski school during the day so I was able to ski with the people I had met in the chalet. All 21 guests sat round the same table which was very sociable. At 7pm a 3course dinner would be served comprising of a fab soup, a hearty main (shepherds pie/lasagne/roast etc,) and a simple pud - they were also very good at catering for all different needs and they didn't skimp on the wine. Any cake left over we could take as part of our lunch the next day. After a day of skiing, we would come back to afternoon tea and very welcome cake. We bought bread and cheese from the supermarket downstairs to make sandwiches on the slopes as we were on a budget and a small pizza cost £10 up the mountains (with the pound being so weak at the minute). with a cooked breakfast on Saturday and new years day. We got a decent breakfast in the morning - croissants, toast, cereal, ham, cheese etc. They always made sure we had everything we wanted. The chalet hosts were a couple and were very friendly and helpful. We didn't really know what to expect from the chalet or from the Grandvalira ski resort. My partner and I booked our ski holiday in Andorra through Thomas Cook.
